After completing his articles with a major national law firm, Nick Peters joined Scott Venturo LLP in 2008. In 2006, he was seconded for a summer term and received in-house experience with a major oil and gas pipeline corporation.
Nick obtained dual law degrees from McGill University in 2007, graduating with a bachelor of civil law (B.C.L.) and bachelor of laws (LL.B.) as part of McGill's combined comparative law program. He previously obtained an honours degree in political science and economics from McGill in 2004. Throughout his studies at McGill, Nick was actively involved in student government and the university Senate. He remains active in federal politics and has worked on multiple national election and party leadership campaigns in addition to holding related executive positions.
Nick has been involved in a range of insurance defence work, including subrogated actions, coverage disputes, liability defence, quantum damage assessments, cost overrun claims and business interruption disputes. Nick was also recently involved in an international commercial arbitration valued over C$500-million, involving insurance and construction issues in the Alberta oil sands.
During law school, Nick travelled the world working part-time as a flight attendant. In addition to his passion for world travel, he enjoys scrambling, hiking and trekking in the mountains, and has summitted peaks and completed long-distance trails throughout North America, Europe and Africa.
