Laura received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the University of Calgary in 2007 and her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Alberta in 2010. Laura was a summer student at a boutique litigation firm between her first and second years of law school and commenced her articles with that firm in 2010. She joined Scott Venturo LLP in May of 2011, completed her articles in August, 2011 and will continue to practice with the firm as an associate. Laura
maintains a general civil litigation practice and takes a particular interest in employment, regulatory, commercial and insurance disputes.
During law school, Laura volunteered with Student Legal Services Criminal and Legal Education divisions. She was also a University of Alberta Faculty of Law Peer Coach. During her final year of law school, Laura participated in the Provincial Courts Clerkship Program rotating through Criminal, Youth, Family and Civil Courts.
During her articles, Laura was seconded to a major oil and gas company where she obtained corporate and regulatory experience. She has also appeared as junior counsel before the Court of Queen’s Bench and Court of Appeal.
Laura is a former Junior National Biathlon Team member and competed for Canada at the World University Games in Tarvisio, Italy in 2003. While she has retired from competitive sport, Laura has maintained her ties to the biathlon community through volunteer coaching in both Calgary and Canmore.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys cross-country skiing, running, cycling, learning guitar and spending time in her hometown of Canmore.
