PROFESSIONAL BACKGROUND:
Don
Detomasi commenced his articles with Scott Venturo LLP
in July, 1998 and joined the firm as an associate in
1999. He became a partner in 2005.
Shortly after his call to the bar, Don successfully
argued the case of R. v. Watkinson before
the Alberta Court of Appeal, one of the leading decisions
in Alberta on the applicability of conditional sentences
in serious breach of trust cases.
Currently, Don practices almost exclusively in the
area of insurance defence litigation in cases involving professional liability, construction and commercial disputes, wrongful death and
serious personal injury claims, commercial host liability and directors and officers liability matters. In recent years
he has acted for major insurers at all levels of the
Alberta Courts and in the Supreme Court of British Columbia.
